On Saturday Oct. 22 a group set out on a journey which had been done before. That journey was a completely successful train crawl.
Basically a train crawl means riding the Calgary C-Train and hitting a pub at every stop. However, a complete train crawl is unfortunately impossible. There are 22 stops on the main line. Assuming one got off and just waited for the next train (a 15 minute wait), the whole thing would take 5.5 hours. Now that’s assuming that one does not consider the time that a hitting a pub takes.
To make the Train Crawl a more realistic goal, we decided to instead have a picture at every stop and hit pubs in key locations. This meant much running on and off C-trains. For this noble task a group set out consisting of me, Dave, Scott, Jacqui, Adrienn, Evan, Cody, Richard and Travis. Eventually we were joined by Nate as well.
Let us now view the break down of the journey.
The Journey begins at SommersetWill our brave hereos be successful? Shawnessy Station and all is well Evan celebrates Shawnessy with the first stall of the night Fish Creek Goodness Cody and Adrienn stall at Canyon Meadows Anderson and Travis has joined the group Southland and going strong It's Heritage and the train crawl is and the train crawl is 31.8% done To celebrate we do this... ... and hit our first pub, Studio 82 Travis and Evan add fuel to the night
Once we reach Chinook we do the only logical thing... ...Play Twister! The game is so intense it continues on the train 39 Ave. Action Shot 1: The Jump 39 Ave. Action Shot 2: Fleeing back to the train Erlton Stampede (It's hard to think of things to say for 22 stops) Evan and Travis celebrate Victoria Park Stampede the ol'fashion way Victoria Park Stampede Challenge: Who can win the most in the casino Dave is rewarded a banana for his victory of increasing his money by 50% Olympic Plaza and we have reached downtown 3rd bar of the night: The always classy Regis 1st Street and Nate has joined the crewRocking out on 4th Street 7th Street and going strong Sunnyside and we have offically left down town Lions Park and the night was getting hazy. We hit a bar in Kensington but none of the pictures turned out SAIT/Jubilee and the engery is still high. Thank you caffine Banff Trail, almost there University: I spend too much time here as it is Brentwood (95.5% done) Dalhousie and victory is oursJust in time for the last train home Evan and Jacqui rest after a lengthy train crawl
All in all the train crawl was a success. We started at 7pm and just made the last train home. Truely this day will live on fovever in tales of victory.
